It is amazing but a great source for natural dyes can be found right in our own colored gardens!! Roots, nuts and flowers are just a few common natural ways to get many colors obtaining red, yellow, blue, orange, green, brown and grey and other natural dyes.

They can give us fresh air, sweet smells, beautiful sights, new sensations &#? fashion&#&!!

Because of our concerning and commitment, as consumers, with ecologic clothing more and more large and small companies are adding naturally dyed yarn or naturally colored yarns to their lines.

The companies that want to participate in a free international trade with organic textiles obtaining the world-wide recognition have to comply with the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), which defines a standard for organic textiles throughout the production process. With the introduction of the logo and labelling system the GOTS is now about to visually enter not only the shelves of natural textile shops but also of the largest retailers and brand dealers; a milestone in consumer's recognition but also a high accountability for a reliable quality assurance concept.

These standards for organic textiles cover the production, processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling, exportation, importation and distribution of all natural fibres. The final products may include, but are not limited to fibre products, yarns, fabrics and clothes.

Since 2002 the aim of these standards is to define requirements to ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labelling in order to provide a credible assurance to the end consumer, the very important one who decides what to wear. He is the one who indicates trends &#? fashion&#&.

Thanks to us and our consumer's decisions nowadays there has been a revolution in eco-friendly fabrics and materials, from recycled buttons and zips, to bottle tops and aluminum cans. Even sport shoes &#? fashion&#& accessories are produced under an ethical makeover, many of them reducing the carbon footprint. As responsible consumers and not only obsessed with what to put into but thinking what to use on our bodies too, we may feel relaxed, the only thing we have to do is to update our choices rethinking our jeans, buying eco-friendly (rather than high-end designer) handbags, recycling our good looking used-clothing, and choosing new and unusual fabrics including banana fiber and hemp, bamboo and coconut, natural indigo for jeans and the use of natural dyes such us potato starch and mimosa flowers.
